State Games Taking Nominations
For Athletes and Volunteer of Year
MERIDIAN, MS – As the 32nd State Games of Mississippi is in high gear, we are turning our attention to asking for nominations of our Ochsner Rush Health 2023 Athletes of the Year and our 2023 Volunteer of Year.
Based on the national program, the State Games of Mississippi established the annual “Athlete of the Year” award to recognize Mississippi’s amateur athletes. Coaches, officials, athletes, volunteers and spectators nominated one athlete from each of the 2023 sports for the award. The nominated athletes should personify the ideals of the State Games movement, such as participation, sportsmanship, special attributes, achievements, efforts and positive attitudes. Three final winners will be chosen: Male, Female and Youth Athletes of the Year.

Nominees for the Athlete of the Year are honored Ochsner at a yearly banquet; and the three winners are the designated torch runners for the next year’s Opening Ceremony to light the State Games cauldron.
